Thursday

Thursday was supposed to be our first “Plan” day, but of course that quickly got swapped over for Small’s birthday, so today is technically our day 3 of learning. Although they’ve both done waaaay more work than I actually anticipated, as they’re just loving it so much, I’m having to literally drag them away to do other things, like, you know, eat.

Tweaks….

One of the main things I’ve found this week is the need to tweak our daily schedule a bit. Although it is technically the Easter Holidays too, so there’s a lot more going on than would be normally. What I’ve noticed is that we’re accidentally having much longer lunch breaks than intended, and not getting back into our project work properly as outside plans have interfered. (Cycling down to my mother’s yesterday for lunch to see the tiny cousins took MUCH longer than we had.) Although I didn’t try and curtail this just to fit back into our timetable, we did do a bit when we got back- after all, family time is important, and the girls spent the whole time playing with, teaching, and looking after the two toddlers which was quite the education in itself.

So, today, I’ll be changing our timetable to this:

Essentially all I have done is remove the actual timings, allowing a little more flexibility around other plans, but still keeping our aims clear and fixed. With the morning dedicated to core learning (English, Maths and Science) and the afternoons (whatever time that equates to after our break) spent on Project work, which I will cover in more detail HERE.
